Custom modifications are just that;
Custom, by definition of the word, there is no standard by
which to judge.
The word Estimate means
just that; An ESTIMATE (es·ti·mat·ed, es·ti·mat·ing,
es·ti·mates, To calculate approximately (the amount, extent,
magnitude, position, or value of something). So when you ask
for an Estimate for Custom work this is a targeted amount
and subject to additional charges should a custom project go
way over the estimated amount.
Custom projects can run
into unforeseen expenses like: Fabricating new parts,
modifying existing parts, hidden procedures which we could
not have accounted for. We have had occasions where the
actual cost doubled from the estimate.
We reserve the right to
charge for these hidden costs should the project go over
budget.
Custom work is also
subject to a different labor rate (see estimate sheet).
Because of the nature of custom work (including fiberglass
parts) we cannot and do not offer any warranty other than
our workmanship. We make every effort to see that we
perform custom work with highest quality / long term
durability standards, but again, there is now way / no
standard by which to gauge how long a modification will last
or perform to expectations.
Our advice to you is:
If your budget is tight and there is no room for error, it
would be wise on your behalf to wait until you can
accommodate the many variables involved with high quality
custom work.
All custom work is
subject to time logging and our liability waiver for altered
parts or structures.
Collision work is
different as does not apply here. Collision is easier
to estimate and therefore more accurate, still not exact,
but certainly more accurate then custom.
